Humanitarian aid should solve the whole problem
When a window is destroyed, covering the opening is not enough.
Wooden boards may provide an immediate barrier, but they block natural light and are not designed to restore a warm, liveable interior. For households unable to afford conventional glass, that temporary response can remain in place for months or years.
Insulate Ukraine was founded on a simple belief: humanitarian products should be designed around the people who depend on them and the conditions in which they must work.
Begin with the real need
Spend time on the ground with the people facing the problem. Understand their lived realities and the conditions in which any potential solution will be deployed. This creates the foundation for judging whether an idea will actually work.
Design for crisis conditions
Our systems are shaped by damaged buildings, harsh winters, disrupted supply chains, limited household income and the security risks faced by installation teams.
Make better aid deliverable
A useful product must be affordable, manufacturable, transportable and practical to install. Innovation only matters when it can reach a home.
