Justice Under Siege: Ukraine, war crimes, and the fight for dignity
Recently, Insulate Ukraine was honoured to attend Justice Under Siege, a discussion hosted by the RSA focused on Ukraine, war crimes, and the ongoing fight for human dignity during wartime.
The event featured Oleksandra Matviichuk — head of the Center for Civil Liberties and recipient of the 2022 Nobel Peace Prize — alongside leading voices discussing justice, accountability, and the human consequences of Russia’s full-scale invasion.
The discussion moved beyond headlines and geopolitics to focus on the human impact of the war: destroyed homes, displaced families, documented war crimes, and the ongoing struggle for justice and accountability.
A central theme throughout the evening was that peace cannot exist without dignity and justice for those affected by violence.
For Insulate Ukraine, the conversation reflected the realities our teams continue to witness in frontline communities across Ukraine. Since 2022, we have worked to help families living in damaged homes by developing emergency replacement windows that restore insulation, safety, and protection from the elements.
Originally developed in Cambridge and later refined through collaboration with Ukrainian teams in regions such as Izium and Nikopol, these emergency windows continue helping communities remain warm and habitable while long-term reconstruction efforts continue.
The event also highlighted the importance of keeping Ukrainian voices visible internationally and maintaining support for both humanitarian and civil society initiatives.
We are grateful to the RSA for hosting this important conversation and to everyone continuing to support Ukraine’s people, recovery, and future.
From immediate humanitarian response to long-term rebuilding, solidarity remains essential.
