About Us

The invading Russian Army has smashed some 10 million windows in eastern and southern Ukraine. Winter in Ukraine lasts from December to March, where temperatures can quickly drop to -20°C or below. No other humanitarian crisis in the world is happening in such a cold environment; the winter cold is being used by Russia as a weapon in this war. No family can live securely at home in these conditions.

Insulate Ukraine a non-profit established in December 2022, we have the answer. Harry Blakiston Houston and a team of engineers at The University of Cambridge have developed a $15 triple-layer window, made from PVC piping and polyethylene, manufactured 100% locally and installed free of charge. To date have successfully installed over 24,000 emergency replacement windows.

Insulate Ukraine is a locally led franchise charity with operations across the Ukrainian frontline. We support people by insulting their homes, we support local communities by insulating public buildings, and provide economic resilience by providing work for local civic heroes.

Mission Statement

Governed by values of empathy, trust and innovation, Insulate Ukraine exists to support those who's homes have been devastated due to the consequences of war. Harnessing innovation we excel in unlocking the door of opportunity to build resilience in frontline communities. Our projects focus on supporting the individual, the community and the economic prosperity of local communities during their darkest hours. We urge those who have a voice, influence and resources to open this door and guarantee a future for the worst affected communities in Ukraine.

Our Values

Empathy

In order to be empathetic we must understand the circumstances of our recipients. By exercising empathy we are forced to understand the problems that need to be solved in the communities we support.

Innovation

Having understood the problems faced by the communities we support we must be creative in our response to resolving them.

Trust

Trust empowers innovation and comes hand in hand with transparency. By building trust within our organisation and trust with those we impact we will be able to innovate faster.
